This week’s featured artists is Black Alley.
Born and bred in the District of Columbia, BLACK ALLEY has pushed the rhythmic limits of DC’s music scene for 5 years now. By standing on the shoulders of tradition, Black Alley embodies the best of jazz, funk, rock, R&B, and hip-hop to form its own musical niche called “Soul Garage.”
Honored by the Washington Area Music Association as “Best Urban Contemporary Group” in 2012, and with recent press features on NBC 4, CBS 9 as well as in the Washington City Paper and Washington Post, BLACK ALLEY seeks to create a space where people and music vibe on a higher level. The goal: for their music to be a sanctuary for people who want more – more passion, more love, more out of life.
Black Alley has been honored to share the stage with renowned artists like Raheem DeVaughn, Gin Blossoms, Eric Roberson, Chuck Brown, Ledisi, Bilal, Kindred the Family Soul, Tabi Bonney, Sy Smith, Emily King, Jaguar Wright, Dionne Farris, Levi Stephens, Maimouna Youseff, Mint Condition, Angie Stone and Chrisette Michele just to name a few. In a couple weeks, Black Alley will be sharing the stage with Grammy nominated songstress, Marsha Ambrosious.
Black Alley released their debut album “Soul. Swagger. Rock. Sneakers” on March 18th to a sold out crowd at the Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington, DC. In preparation for this tremendous occasion, the band launched a webisode series highlighting their journey to releasing this much anticipated album. The series is called “BEYOND THE MUSIC”.
